***exciting news***
After so many years of
individually mailing you all attachments and links
to files (mostly, but not always in the most timely
way), we've now got an online store which will allow
you to immediately download purchases and make the

intensive.

foundational herbcraft...
actions & energetics in western herbalism
a 200+ page pdf file
I have a long write up
on energetics that I'm offering as a PDF file. The
information comes directly from the compiled columns
I've written for
PlantHealerMagazine,
and is essentially the rough draft of a book I'm writing on how we
can understand the implied energetics of herbal actions
more effectively (it turns out that alphabetical lists
filled with two sentence definitions are a pretty
horrible way to learn about herbal actions).
The material included covers energetics (hot, cold,
damp, dry, tense & lax), foundational actions (which
covers aromatics, astringents, demulcents, relaxants,
stimulants & bitters), primary actions (alteratives,
adaptogens, trophorestoratives, diaphoretics, diuretics,
expectorants, laxatives, lymphatics, nervines) and
secondary actions (anti-inflammatory, and a number of
variations on antimicrobials). Beyond all that,
and dare I say "more
importantly", it presents a model I've developed that helps
to more effectively understand herbal actions in a way
that relates directly to energetics.
I've formatted the PDF file in a way that allows it to
be printed and bound, with a cover, table of contents
and the information laid out in chapters, because
really: hundreds of pages is a lot to deal with on a
screen for many people.
If you like
the way I present on the topic of energetics and
actions, this is the most comprehensive material I have
written down on the topic.

. : MP3 audio
files : .
with jim mcdonald
Over four hours of class recordings
(as MP3 files), and over 30 pages of class notes and
other written info (as PDF files) to support the
recording (links embedded in the written info go off
to oodles more pages of resources).
Topics covered include a contrast of vitalism versus
germ theory, "bad blood" and the foundational role
of strong metabolism/digestion, physiomedical(ish)
fever energetics, diaphoretics, core immune
strength, the lymphatic system, metabolic &
antiseptic lymphatic herbs, and antimicrobials.
A few interesting tangents were left in, a couple
added as "bonus tracks". The files are named
and tracked by topic, to make it easy for finding
stuff.

: VIDEO : .
I currently have three DVD sets
available. The focus of the videos isn't on
botanical identification, but on usage and understanding
the foundational actions & energetics at play, with
much elaboration, analogizing, storytelling and
gesturing. There's also information on different
preparations,the
Eclectic School of Herbal Medicine different ideologies on dosage, the power
of gentle herbs and other insightful elaborations.
Shipping for DVDs is
$7, USPS Priority
Mail. You need only pay the shipping once
per order (unless you order lots and lots
and lots of stuff). However, if you live
outside of the US please contact me so I can figure
out a shipping price, because it can be a lot
higher. For example, international priority
mail to Canada can be around $20, though first class
seems to fall between $7 and $10.
