other stuff i do...
As time
allows, I do a few other things outside of teaching
classes and workshops. Having a full time job, wife and a
rather new (and darn cute) little boy, the "as time
allows" factor is a big one.

Alas, there's a seemingly perpetual backlog for consults, and
I can't promise any speedy ability to see someone.
Thanks in advance for your understanding.
On a
limited basis I can meet with you to discuss
specific health issues and share my thoughts on them. It
must be said that, by law, only a licensed medical doctor
can diagnose or treat disease. I am also
prohibited from making any claims that should you use any
given herb, you will receive any purported benefit.
Educational consultations are not intended to be a
replacement for medical attention. Rather, they are
an opportunity to have a sort of "one on one class"
discussing the role of herbs in the topic of your choice,
where I can offer information, thoughts, opinions and
ideas for your consideration, based on traditional or
contemporary uses, or simply my own personal experience, beliefs and
impressions. Should any of these ideas or concepts
resonate with or make sense to you, you may take responsibility for your well being
and make decisions that might affect it.
writing projects...
foundational
herbcraft & a great lakes
herbal
I'm working on two books at the moment;
one on actions and energetics in traditional western
herbcraft, with the focus on what all those herbal terms
really mean, and which ones are more foundationally
important than others (I also write a series in
PlantHealerMagazine on
this - basically a rough draft of the book coming out
quarterly). I'm also still working on covering the uses
of native and naturalized herbs found throughout Michigan
and the Great Lakes Bioregion... but don't get your hopes
up too high; these still have quite a ways to go, and since
I'm not currently able to go on sabbatical to really plug
away at 'em, it'll probably be longer than you OR I want.
Cest la vie...
travelling teacher...
I'm always happy to
travel and spend time talking plants, and can speak on a
wide array of herbal topics, from a couple hours to a
day to a weekend. If you're interested in having me
offer herb classes in your neck of the woods (or
tropical beach!), just let me know...
herbal host
I've decided that us poor
Michigan folk shouldn't always have to drive to the sunset
city of unknown Kadath (how many, I wonder, will get
that obscure reference...) just too see some of the
really good herbalists out there, and have been inviting
some of my friends to come out to Michigan to teach.
In past years, I've had Rosemary Gladstar,
Matthew Wood, David Winston, Margi Flint, Stacey and
Joseph Quade, Caroline Gagnon, the Leslies Williams &
Alexander, Larken Bunce, 7Song and Rebecca Altman come out to share their
wisdom and unique insights into the green world.
In 2008 I hosted a
United Plant Savers
Planting the Future Regional Conference in August, which will brought together folks form Michigan,
Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Ontario. In the future, there'll be more to come...
